Living in Babylon
So how are God’s people to live in these in between times, when the kingdom of God has come but not fully, when the clash of kingdoms continues?
A Clash of Kingdoms
Jesus the Messiah did not banish evil and the kingdom of the world when he came. He defeated Satan, but did not banish him - not yet!
A Holy Nation
What does it mean to be a holy people, those called out from the world to belong to God?
Kingdom Mandate
Adam and Eve were called to rule for God like God and in that way to enjoy the blessings of his rule and to show to all the world his greatness.
The Good News of the Kingdom
We show how this good news announcement of the kingdom is the central message of the Bible.
Kingdom Multiplication - Vision Sunday
God’s Kingdom is about the spread and multiplication of God’s rule and reign. We are challenged to play our part!
Evening Carols
250 children are born every minute! Each one is special in the eyes of their parents. So what was it that made this one extra special?
Christmas Series
Isaiah describes a light, joy and victory - all themes the New Testament picks up in reference to Jesus.
Jesus on Compassion
Because of God’s compassionate love for us, the challenge is to reflect this in our daily interactions with both friends and strangers.
Jesus on Himself
While tolerance is the order of the modern day, Christians can show a confidence in their beliefs that is clothed with humility and compassion.
Jesus on Religion
The church is at her best when she remembers that Jesus offers grace to those who recognise their need of him rather than in their ability to please him.
Jesus on Hate
What a contrast the counter-cultural people of God can be, if we respond graciously even when we are criticised and mistreated.
Jesus on Power
The counter-cultural life in God’s kingdom is one where greatness is redefined as servanthood.
Jesus on Sex
Jesus calls us to radical purity that may seem strange to the world around us, but may increasingly be attractive too.
Jesus on Money
God’s people are counter-cultural because they’ve chosen to set their hearts on the things of God, “where moths and vermin do not destroy.”
Jesus on The Cost of Following Him
What does denying ourselves, taking up our cross and losing our lives for Jesus look like today?
Jesus on The Good Life
The blessed life as Jesus sees it is defined purely in relation to how God views a person.
It’s Time to Leave the Safety of the Harbour
A ship in the harbour is safe, but that’s not what ships are built for! The church being all she is called to be.
Jesus on Our Purpose
Jesus strips away the nonsense about loving oneself as the point of life and refocusses us on loving God with all we have.
Vision Sunday
Russ reminds us of how God has been speaking to Citygate about ‘pruning for fruitfulness’ - by continually abiding in him.
-
Our vision
Our vision is to see lives transformed, every day, across the bay. We are transformed by His grace, to bring his kingdom transformation to the lives and the culture around us.
