Alpha is a short course for those looking into the Christian faith.

There’s no cost, and no pressure. Just lots of great conversation and space to think. Each session includes a short video and time of discussion allowing you to share your thoughts about what you’ve heard!

What does an Alpha Course look like?

  • Food and icebreaker

    We sit down and enjoy a meal together - provided free of charge - and spend some time getting to know each other a little better.

  • Short video or talk

    The Alpha videos are designed to inspire conversation. They explore the big issues of life and faith and unpack Christian beliefs, addressing questions like “Is There More to Life Than This?”, “Who is Jesus?”, and “How Can I Have Faith?”

  • Discussion

    The discussion time is an opportunity for people to respond to the video, hear from others, and contribute their own perspective in an honest, friendly, and open environment.

Alpha FAQs

  • Do we have to pay for the Alpha course?

    There is never any cost to attend the Alpha course and an evening meal is included free of charge.

  • Who is the Alpha course for?

    Alpha is for both the new Christian and for anyone just wanting to ask questions or find out more. No questions or comment is too crazy!

  • Do I have to complete the whole course?

    Alpha is relaxed and informal, if after one or two sessions you decide it’s not for you, that’s absolutely fine.

  • Can I come along with a friend?

    You are more than welcome to bring a friend, or if you know someone from Citygate Church, you can come along with them. Just make sure you have both signed up using the online form, so we have an idea of numbers.

  • What if I can’t make the dates for this course?

    There is no obligation to come to every session if you’re not able to make a particular date. We run Alpha courses regularly so feel free to sign up to the next one if you can’t make it this time round.

  • What if want to chat to someone before signing up?

    We’d be more than happy to discuss the course further with you. Email alpha@citygate.church if you have any additional questions.
