Scripture: Isaiah 61:5-7

These verses highlight the reversal of fortunes of God’s people: from downtrodden and oppressed to blessed. Our renewed identity in Christ means that we are honoured sons with inheritance, instead of shamed and disgraced. This is what we want for those we are seeking to reach with the gospel: “strangers” and “foreigners” now a part of the covenant community. As priests, we have the privileged role of ministering to God and the responsibility of helping the world to know him.
