Safe Families
What’s Safe Families?
Safe Families is a charity that works with 35+ local authorities around the UK. They offer hope, belonging and support to children, families and care leavers; and do this primarily, but not exclusively, with and through local churches.
Trained volunteers encourage and provide support like that of a good friend, neighbour, aunt or grandparent through host homes or weekly connections in the community.
The need is huge and there is a growing care crisis with rising numbers of children in care and early help services being cut across the country. Safe Families has a model that works; having effectively demonstrated the ability to reduce the flow of children into care, to sustain families in the community and to increase the sense of hope and connection that families have; ultimately enabling them to thrive, happy and secure.
How can I get support as a family?
Safe Families works in partnership with local authorities, which supply 90% of the referrals. Other referral sources come from CCG’s, GP’s, schools, community agencies and even some self-referrals.
