All Nations Sunday

About this talk:

All Nations Sunday is a lively, multicultural service where we’ll come together to honour the beauty of our differences and the unity we share in Jesus.

Expect powerful worship in a variety of languages, prayers from around the world, and stories of faith from across the globe. Our brilliant kids will even be leading us in some dance moves—don’t worry, adults, you're allowed to join in too!

Whether you’ve been here forever or you’ve just arrived, this is your moment to belong, celebrate, and worship together. So pop on your traditional attire (if you fancy), bring a friend from another nation, and let’s reflect a little bit of heaven—right here.

Discussion Questions:

"The gospel is less concerned with sin and more concerned about separation, it is less a call to repentance and more a call to reconciliation."

As one group, open up to Genesis 3:6-24.

Looking at this passage through a 'separation' lens - where relationships are broken - call out which verses indicate separation between two or more parties.

(People can just read this on their own and then call out when they notice a separation between two or more parties. This bit shouldn't take more than 3 - 5 minutes).

Smaller Group Discussion:

Now divide the group into 2 smaller groups. Look up and take note of these verses:

Group 1

Scriptures:

  • Romans 5:10–11

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17–21

  • Colossians 1:19–22

Discussion Questions:

  1. According to these verses, what did God do to reconcile us to Himself?

  2. How would you explain reconciliation with God to someone unfamiliar with Christianity?

  3. Paul calls us "ambassadors" of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:20).

What does that mean for you personally or for us as a church? Think of practical ideas.

Group 2

Scriptures:

  • Ephesians 2:14–16

  • Galatians 3:28

  • Matthew 5:23–24

Discussion Questions:

  1. What does it mean that Jesus has "destroyed the dividing wall of hostility"?

  2. What kinds of "walls" still exist in churches or society today?

  3. Galatians 3:28 speaks of unity despite differences.

  4. What's the difference between unity and uniformity in the Church?

  5. Why do you think reconciliation with others is so important to Jesus that He says to seek it before offering your gift at the altar?

After 15 minutes, bring the whole group together and get each group to share their answers to their three questions. This could take about 5 - 10 minutes.

Close

As a group discuss some really practical ways in which you have or could encourage 'one new humanity in Christ' here in Citygate and then close in prayer along the lines of humility from ethnic pride and healing from ethnic pain.
