Arch Coffee House Celebrates a Year Serving the Community.

We celebrated our first year as Arch Coffee House on the 25th November 2024. It’s been a faith adventure with plenty of middle of the night prayers when things aren’t going so well and lots of moments of gratitude when we’ve seen glimpses of the vision for Arch becoming a reality.

The Vision

At the heart of that vision was to create a wide open door to the church, both the building at our Bournemouth space and the people that make up our Citygate community. We wanted to create an environment where our Citygate family could easily invite their friends, colleagues, and local businesses to build relationships.

We set out to tithe (give 10% of all sales) to the Community Hub from the very start. This was a huge faith challenge and not something a business consultant would encourage you to do, but this venture was God’s plan and this business is a kingdom business, first and foremost to genuinely bless our local community.

In our first year we were able to give £8,300 to the Hub and it’s a privilege to know that Arch has played a part in seeing lives restored here in Bournemouth.

Since Arch coffee house has opened, it has allowed us to start to create relationships with bus drivers, local students and all those around the area that need a warm, safe place to hang out. We’ve chatted with so many different people!

The Future

They all say that the first year of a new business is significantly challenging and they’re not wrong! We have a long way to go to create a sustainable coffee shop and we want to reach so many more people with our exceptional coffee, wonderful bakes and super friendly staff.

We want local businesses to make Arch their regular business breakfast/lunch meetings, but more than anything we want people to make Citygate their home. We want to see small communities of different people making Arch their regular weekly drop in, their home and if Arch can play a significant role in seeing that become a reality we will count it a privilege.
